Bonding versus Porcelain Laminates (veneers):

Many patients desire a whiter, straighter, proportionate smile. Modern dentistry has allowed us to recreate a natural, radiant smile utilizing bonding or porcelain laminate procedures. The difference in technique between the aforementioned is significant, but the esthetic outcome is highly comparable and is very astonishing. Composite bonding procedures require minimal preparation of the teeth and utilizes a durable, yet highly polishable composite resin that is shaped then bonded against your natural teeth. With proper contouring and shade selection the bonding is often impossible to detect. The treatment takes one visit and the results last for about 5 to 7 years. Bonding procedures are also employed to close gaps between teeth, restore chipped or fractured teeth, smooth imperfections on the surface

The second, more invasive option for improving your smile uses porcelain veneers. It requires removal of a thin layer of enamel (less than 1mm) on the front surface of the teeth, followed by making of an impression of the prepared teeth. A highly qualified laboratory technician then fabricates the thin strong veneers that are then cemented on to the front of the teeth. The procedure is completed in two visits and the results last for 7 years or more.

Tooth Whitening:

We utilize a very safe hydrogen peroxide activated by a fluorescent lamp to achieve the greatest results in tooth whitening. The procedure only requires approximately one hour of your time and during that period you may listen to your favorite music or the news with our wireless headphones. Our patients and our staff have experienced dramatic differences in just one hour. Of course, our doctors are very meticulous in isolating your gums, lips, and eyes to prevent the occurrence of side effects, such as irritation to the gums and a tingling sensation in the lips.

Any discomfort caused by the procedure always dissipates in just a couple of days. Results after Zoom Whitening is long lasting, usually up to 2 years. For those patients whose teeth tend to stain, the application of Crest Whitestrips Supreme (sold at our office) is all that is needed.

Fillings, Inlays, and Onlays:

Our cosmetic specialist will determine your need for fillings after visual examination and radiographs. Many adults have very old silver fillings which can cause the tooth to become decayed underneath or around the filling. In such a case, the filling is removed and then replaced with a durable filling, such as gold, porcelain, amalgam, or tooth colored resin. Many small to moderate sized fillings are beautifully restored with a tooth colored resin, called composite. However, if the tooth is weakened because of severe decay or large existing restorations, the more suitable material is gold, porcelain, or amalgam. Gold is extremely durable, while porcelain is very esthetic, resembling the shade and anatomy of actual teeth. Our doctors will explain to you all the risks and benefits of each material and will give a recommendation based on the condition of the tooth to be restored.
